Reroll Mill Capabilities

Eagle Metals is a precision reroll mill, specializing in light gauge, tight tolerance, metal coil in strip. We work with copper-based alloys, stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cold-rolled steel.  We can process titanium, some exotic alloys, slit aluminum, and have expanded our broad range of capabilities well beyond what we thought possible over 30 years ago.

At Eagle Metals, our service means more.

We are a full-scale precision reroll facility with many supporting departments in-house. A well-thought-out must-have for metal manufacturing.

Some of our capabilities include:

  • Breakdown full-size 40,000 lb coils at 48” wide, alleviating us from entering the queue at casting mills to have material slit to more manageable widths. We can do that ourselves in-house!  Our 52” wide-width slitter can handle copper coils as thick as 0.125”.
  • Roll tempered material down to foil gauges, as light as 0.0005” thick. Depending on the desired properties and finished condition of a customer’s request, we can handle 0.125” thicknesses down to 0.0005” thin… and everything in between!
  • We do all our own annealing in-house. We have two Eber furnaces, a vertical furnace, and seven horizontal furnaces, four of which are high-temperature furnaces for stainless steel.  And during a recent building expansion, we constructed space for an additional vertical furnace to further support our growth in stainless.
  • Our cleaning lines are critical, and not just for removing residual oil and dirt. They are an essential step prior to annealing.  Removing unwanted materials from the surface prior to entering the oven ensures a blemish-less finish.
  • Our stretch-bend leveler handles wide-width strips after annealing to correct or improve shape. We also have several die-width leveling lines to correct the camber and check for die-exit twists.
  • Our slitting department is of note and has been since the early 1990’s. We have 11 slitters, with a brand new slitting machine expected to arrive late 2024.  Our equipment is continuously upgraded to handle material lighter, thinner, and produce larger coils.  Our slitters use shimless tooling, which can hold tighter tolerances.
  • If a burrless slit edge isn’t sufficient for an application, our customers have the option of utilizing our edge-conditioning lines, where we’re able to profile strip edges round (#1) or square (#5), simply remove any burr in-house or as toll-work.
  • Some stamping houses prefer not to pay off the strip on a ‘lazy Susan’, opting for longer run-time. Using our CNC or TIG welders, we can weld multiple coils together and wind them tightly onto traverse-wound spools.  These reels can handle weights of 250, 500, 1,000, or 2,000 lbs, increasing run time and minimizing changeover.
  • When reel vendors lead times shot out and the spools were in short supply, Eagle Metals called on its own in-house CNC department to produce our own, branded, traverse-wound reels. These plastic flanges proudly show our logo so there’s no mistake – consistency and quality are synonymous with Eagle!
  • Our maintenance department regularly rehabs and refurbishes old equipment, especially when they’re not maintaining our own facilities. But when we’re not welding strip-to-strip for winding, our team is welding other metals as they build our own machines to suit our growing needs!
  • Another weld application at Eagle is our ability to multi-coil strip together. For those who like the idea of longer run times and don’t have a spool pay-off setup, we can offer multi-coil solutions.  With no ID core, the end of the top coil at the inside is welded to the beginning of the coil beneath it, ultimately producing larger packages on skids, and dramatically increasing run-time.
  • At Eagle, our customer base includes companies that prefer sheets for etching or other applications. Our sheer can produce sheets in custom lengths, and our team carefully packs these ‘pieces of jewelry’ into custom-made boxes and crates for safe transit.
  • We take pride in our finished product. The first impression a new customer gets of our metal is the packaging, so the challenge to meet any customer packing spec is always welcome!  Every shipment from Eagle Metals leaves our facility tight, neat, and looking sweet in our Eagle Blue shrink wrap.
  • Eagle Metals' CNC department goes beyond our latest welding equipment. With four versatile machines in-house, we make our own replacement parts, winding spools, mill rings, and most importantly, our work rolls.
  • Every last pass on a mill at Eagle Metals uses new work rolls, ensuring a better surface and shape control. Without relying on outside vendors, we are able to achieve this by making all our own work rolls in-house and maintaining them as well.
  • Our work roll maintenance department has grown proportionally with our business; we now have nine roll grinding machines that support our constant need for new and fresh work rolls. With a solid mix of rehabbed and brand-new Cincinnati roll grinders, this department is always busy!
